About us
The Newman Rotary Club is a local club made up with members of all walks of life. The club belongs to a worldwide organization of similar clubs devoted to serving the community and promoting world peace.
The Rotary Club of Newman was chartered on April 17, 1948 at a ceremony in the FDES Hall which was attended by over 400 Rotarians and guests. Walter Newman was the charter president and there were over 30 men who were charter members. In those days, Rotary was a "mans" club. Today women and men are accepted as new members.
Newman Rotary members are dedicated people who share a passion for both community service and friendship. The Newman Rotary club membership is open to people of all cultures, creeds and races. Our organization is not politically or religiously oriented.
"Service above Self" is the club motto. Newman Rotary has been active in the community for these past 66 years. It has also served around the world. The major goal of Rotary since 1985 has been the elimination of polio world-wide.
New members to the Newman Rotary Club are always welcomed. The club meets at Pizza Plus everyThursday at 11:00 amand there is fun, fellowship, and excellent programs each week.
